Personal Bio:

Hello! My name is Aleyda Davalos and I am a student at Mission College studying Engineering. I was born in Nezahualcóyotl, Mexico (Mexico City) and immigrated to the United States when I was six years old. I am a first generation college student and advocate for higher education in undeserved communities. Attending school has always been a great privilege since it taught me to use my voice and allowed me to escape into a world that is impartial, in which everyone has an opportunity to better themselves. I am honored to be be part of the Fall 2020 Dev/Mission cohort as it has empowered me with new skill and enabled me to seek out new career opportunities. I hope to pass my knowledege and resources to help our future generation and close the education gap and enable them to succeed in their higher education journey.

I love plants:

I love plants! Although, I do not have a natural green thumb I work very hard to understand and take care of my plants. In my collection I currently have a fig tree named Andrew, a Aloe Vera, a string of hearts, a Goldent Pothos, and many other types of plants. Plants have taught me a lot about patience, intuitive listening, and flexibility. Also, I love the chill vibe they provide to my space and that I am able to interact and exchange tips with people in the plant community. If you're into plants or trees let's have a chat!

Two Kittens looking at the camera
AEON & NUBE:

These cuties are my two cats Aeon(on the right) and Nube (on the left) which I was lucky enough to adop this year. In my family we cherish pets so much that they are considered family. These two fur balls are sisters from the same litter and their breed is Lynx mix. Nube is super chill and caring. She will strike up a conversation with you about food anytime. Aeon has the zoomies all the time. She likes to play whenever she can and will wake you up if she needs a buddy. Both sisters love to hang out on the window sill and watch the susnet. They are considered indoor cats but we like to go on adventures when possibly like hiking, visiting the snow, and picnics.
